Library Alternatives

When a user is wants to access an article that he doesn't have access to, Library Alternatives will notify the user in the browser automatically with alternative route(s) to the full text.

We can do this on multiple levels. Most use cases consist of one or more of the following actions:

  • Based on the license information from the link resolver. For example: An article that isnot licensed on JSTOR, may be licensed at IEEE. In such cases, the browser extension notifies the user proactively with link to the site where the article is licensed.

  • Based on the availability of Open Access-based: the browser extension informs the user active when an item is otherwise accessible via Open Access.

If no alternative, automatic routes text found to the full, it's possible to let the Lean Library browser extension point to the possibility to contact the library for help getting access to the article.
